2nd Free Organ Music Competition

Viscount Classical Organs Ltd in the UK has long since set out to be the musician's friend and support many initiatives across the UK to give young musicians instruments at school.

This has never been more important than in the pandemic when access to places of worship has been so difficult. Aspire Classical Organs is also only too happy to contribute to this competition and so provide a much-needed financial boost at this difficult time to the cause of organ music.

Following the very successful results of our organ music competition during the lockdown in the summer of 2020, which has seen the anthology of the winning entries, 'Organ Music for Quiet Moments', become a best-seller and receive some very favorable reviews from Organists, Journalists, and listeners, we can now announce that our second free-to-enter organ music competition will be searching for five winning entries to be published in a companion anthology 'Organ Music for Joyful Moments' to herald new hope for a New Year. The competition will follow the same formula as before...

Competition details and how to enter 

We will be accepting entries from 1st January 2021 and the closing date will be 14th February 2021:

1. The piece should follow the set theme of 'Organ Music for Joyful Moments' and not exceed 3 minutes.
2. The piece must be suitable for an Organist of moderate standard and for use in a Church setting primarily, but can also be suitable for a concert or recital setting.
3. The piece must be new music and not have previously been published or available elsewhere. However, it is acceptable to submit a piece based on an existing (public domain) tune – e.g., a chorale prelude, hymn, or plaint as long as the material is based on liturgical music.
4. Entries should be anonymous... ie, the scores not be marked with the Composer's name to preserve impartiality. Any scores marked with the Composer's name will not be considered. Obviously, the winning scores will be reformatted with the addition of the Composer's name for publication.
5. Entries should be sent in a PDF format (and MP3 recording if available) together with a completed application form to anne@timknightmusic.com by the closing date. Entries are limited to one piece per person.

7. The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 14th February 2021.
8. Five winning entries will be chosen and published (in printed and PDF formats) by Tim Knight Music under a standard publishing contract with royalties on sales payable on a pro-rata basis per winning composer.
9. In addition, one First Prize place will be awarded, with the winner receiving a £150.00 cash prize. A recording will be made of the winning piece and be the first to be released with the anthology.
10. The winning 5 entries will be announced on our website and published in March 2021 with the anthology printed and released thereafter.

This competition is open to any Composers worldwide. However, if you are under the age of 18 and your piece is chosen as one of the winning entries, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the contract on your behalf.
