Yesterday we were asked to price match our Viscount Chorum 10 with a very well-known German Internet retailer. Due to the very aggressive price offered of this simple Box Shifter, we respectfully had to decline their request. When asked why we could not offer a similar price, we elected to provide them with various reasons for this, and inform them of the things that will not happen when purchasing from a UK dealer. We won’t leave a very large box on your door, say goodbye then expect you to unpack, assemble the bench etc. and dispose of all the packing. We won’t ask you to cut off the unsafe 2 pin euro plug with no fuse and connect an approved UK plug.
Their warranty period is 3 years. Our warranty is 7 years parts 2 years labor.
There is no UK service option from them. So the instrument would have to ship back to Germany for any repairs should it fail. We asked our client “would you be happy to keep a very large box for three years and repack for them? Would you like to wait 10 - 14 days for it to return?
We will attend your location within 24-48 hours and repair your instrument in the unlikely event it develops a fault.
We will supply you with an instrument specifically voiced for the UK, fitted with the correct plug and provide a bench free of charge for this model. Deliver and set up at your location at no charge, dispose of all packing and box.
At the end of this conversation the client now very much enlightened, placed the order at 11:30 am. The instrument was delivered and set up by 2:30 pm on the same day.
