Our last rental for 2019 at Dartington Hall

The instrument was our flagship model Envoy 350 on location at Dartington Hall for the production of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius.
This was a very special composition by Musical Director Simon Capet for the Dartington Community Choir. The choir conducted by Simon Capet was accompanied by the Dartington Sinfonietta, with Simon Dunbavand (organist). The soloists were Alison Kettlewell (mezzo-soprano), David Webb (tenor), and James Platt (bass) who liked the organ very much.
Quoting Dr John Capey OBE, “It should not have worked because it is a massive piece of scoring. Simon rearranged it for a small orchestra and organ. It was wonderful. I am sure Elgar himself would have been delighted. The choir, soloists, and organist plus of course Simon were magic. I had tears as the Mezzo-soprano sang the top note in the Alleluia.”
The organ was delegated to many orchestral parts, thus specific voicing was required on the day to ensure a well-balanced acoustic sound stage in relation to the choir and the orchestra. As we sat through the entire rehearsal and evening concert, we were in awe of the incredible production and sonic textures that unfolded during the final performance.
